The Megane Sport Tourer is the name used for the Station wagon versions of the Renault Megane range. Like the other French manufacturers it isn’t on sale in the US, so this can give you an idea of the sort of cars on offer in Europe.

The Megane is a subcompact hatch the size of a VW Rabbit / Golf or a Ford Focus, and usually sells for just under $1000 less than the equivalent Ford or VW.

There is a wide range of small capacity engines available, from a 1.4, 1.6 and 2.0 litre 4 cylinder petrol engines, to the more popular 1.5, 1.9 and 2.0 litre turbo diesel engines. All of the Meganes are front wheel drive only, and the rest of the range features a coupe, a convertible and a 5 door hatchback.

The Laguna is also offered in a Sedan and Coupe format, with the coupe being known for having Aston Martin apeing looks, especially from the rear. The car comes with a range of engines, from a 1.5 and 2.0 turbo diesel engine with either 150 or 180 horsepower outputs, to a 2.0 petrol engine, but the 2.0 diesel is by far the top seller in the range. The range has a larger 3.0 and 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine but it is only currently available in the Coupe, not the Sport Tourer.

The C5 Tourer is the only model in the Citroen range that is offered as an Estate or Station Wagon. The car is not on sale in the US, but is successful in Europe, especially in the fleet market for company cars, where it competes against cars such as the Honda Accord and VW Passat.

The brand has previously been known for producing budget offerings that sold on price, but the Citroen C5 was the start of a new direction for the French manufacturer, who have upped the build quality and styling so they could compete with more premium offerings from the likes of BMW and Mercedes. In fact their advertising for this car stressed the Germanic feel.

The 207 SW is the smallest of the Station Wagons from Peugeot, with the SW standing for Sport Wagon rather than Station Wagon, but essentially meaning the same thing.
The Peugeot 207 SW comes with a range of miniature petrol and diesel engines, with a 1.4 and 1.6 petrol and turbo diesel available, with the diesels being more expensive but also the more popular choice.
